Introduction


The Biobank of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as the "Biobank") was built in 2016 by Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University concerning international norms, using international advanced fully automated technology, and the construction will be completed in three phases. The biobank is committed to focusing on the common needs of clinical medicine, medical research and human health, and aiming at the preservation and research of malignant tumors, chronic diseases and characteristic diseases, including four main bodies: solid samples (wet bank), clinical information (dry bank), primary cells (living bank) and research transformation platform, covering the whole process of collection, processing, preservation, research and transformation of human genetic resources.



Human Genetics Resource Preservation Center of Hubei Province and Human Genetics Resource Preservation Center of Wuhan University


In 2018, after the instructions of the Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and the demonstration of national experts, the biobank was identified by the Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province and the Health and Family Planning Commission of Hubei Province as the "Human Genetics Resource Preservation Center of Hubei Province" (hereinafter referred to as the "Center"), and the Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Department of Civil Affairs of Hubei Province invested 150 million in the second phase of the planning and construction project. In the same year, the biobank was recognized as the "Human Genetics Resource Preservation Center of Wuhan University" by Wuhan University. The center not only participated in the formulation of the first international biobank industry-standard ISO20387, but also became the global repository of the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) on November 20, 2018, and is the only official member of the ISBER global repository in China.
