Welcome to the Department of Biological Repositories, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University (Human Genetics Resource Preservation Center of Wuhan University).

As an organizational member (ID: 49623232) of International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) and the unique repository located in Central China approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (ID: 20171793), the Department of Biological Repositories, Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University (Zhongnan Biobank) is a non-profit institute preserving regional disease biospecimen resources and corresponding clinical data and providing biospecimen-related services to support biomedical research for the benefit of human health. The Zhongnan Biobank has been planned to build in 3 periods, in total 1,800 square meters with storage capacity of 15 Mi. samples. Currently, the first period is completed with a storage capacity of 3 Mi. samples.

The Zhongnan Biobank is also recognized as “Human Genetics Resource Preservation Center of Hubei Province” by the “Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province” and the “Health and Family Planning Commission of Hubei Province”.

 

Our Goal:

1. Establish a high quality and accredited human biological repositories in Central China.

2. Collect various biospecimen and clinical information on multiple diseases, and serve as a biological repository with open access.

3. Enhance collaboration with the medical and scientific communities, and become a fundamental partner for accredited biospecimen-related services and biobanking infrastructure in China.

4. Integrate biospecimen, clinical data, and basic sciences to boost innovation and improvement in basic, transnational, and clinical research and human health.
