On October 09, 2024, the Biobank of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as the "Biobank") obtained the Biobank Accreditation Certificate (registration number: BB0023) issued by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), and successfully became the first hospital biobank in Central China recognized by CNAS.
As an important strategic resource, human genetic resources are of great significance for understanding the nature of life, exploring the principles and mechanisms of disease occurrence and development, developing disease prevention and intervention strategies, and promoting population health, and are an important basis for exploring the occurrence, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, as well as drug research and development. Since its establishment in 2016, the sample bank has been recognized as the "Hubei Human Genetic Resources Preservation Center" and "Wuhan University Human Genetic Resources Preservation Center", and has become the only official member of the International Association of Biological and Environmental Sample Banks (ISBER) global sample preservation base. After rapid development in recent years, the sample library has now formed a sample life cycle quality management system integrating sample acquisition and reception, registration, preparation, preservation, storage, distribution, transportation and quality control, and has become an important basic scientific research support platform for hospitals. With the great attention of the hospital leaders and the strong support of relevant departments, the sample library has been approved a total of 49 national and provincial (city) level projects. In Nature Biotechnology, Nature Communications, Advanced science, Oncogene, Clinical and translational Journals such as medicine have published more than 330 SCI papers, 13 invention patents, 46 utility models, and 5 software Copyrights.
Biobank of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University According to GB/T 37864-2019/ISO 20387: The company actively studied the 2018 General Requirements for the Quality and Capability of Biobank and the relevant accreditation rules issued by CNAS, established and implemented a relatively complete quality management system document, and accepted the on-site review of the sample bank by the expert group of China National Accreditation for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) from July 20 to July 22, 2024.
High-quality sample management system provides reliable biological samples and related data support for biomedical research, and accelerates scientific and technological innovation in the medical field. The sample library will take this review as an opportunity, adhering to the concept of "evaluation to promote reform, evaluation to promote construction", continue to strengthen the quality management system and technical capacity building, and provide more solid support and guarantee for biomedical research.
